Careers in College: LBCC Students Find Work During the Pandemic

With the unemployment rate of Albany at 4.6%, slightly lower than the 6.2% rate of the US right now, it’s a great time to take a look at our LBCC students and what they are up to with their careers. Despite the Covid shut downs, it seems like many of our students are still doing their best to balance work and school. What are jobs and career opportunities that are in our area and how is the 2021 experience with finding jobs?      “I started applying for jobs in December of 2020. I found jobs in the Albany area on Indeed and uploaded a resume. There were about ten minimum wage jobs available at the time but none of them were what I wanted to do” Said Diego Ramirez, a LBCC student who works at Scenic Hill Nursery and Farms.      He struggled for a while to find this job until he found one that he liked. He found his job on Craigslist and called the phone number. Diego was offered an interview and got the job right away.      “I love this job!” says Diego Ramirez. Scenic Hill Nurser
